25/40 Celebration
Exhibit: VSA Permanent Art Collection
July 16 - 26, 2015
Terrace Gallery
Over its forty-year history, VSA has amassed a collection of truly unique visual art. This body of collected work tells a story that follows the vision of VSA's Founder, Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith, the disability movement, and the ways in which VSA's mission has impacted the lives of the participating artists. Selected pieces will be on display, including works by Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, and Hiro Yamagata.
The Exhibit is free and open to the public during open hours of the Kennedy Center.
24/40 Celebration
Two monumental milestones. One awesome celebration.
25 years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act extended civil rights to millions of Americans. 40 years ago, the Kennedy Center’s VSA opened its doors to provide arts and education opportunities for all people with disabilities. These are indeed powerful reasons to celebrate. And so we shall!
This is the 25/40 Celebration. Join us in DC this July—the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian are offering a one-of-a-kind, cross-campus celebration. We are filling our stages, theaters, and public spaces with outstanding, free events to honor a culture of creativity, expression, and American heritage.
