Description: Is your Center interested in creating new or expanding transition services and programs for youth? On August 26, 2015, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Eastern, Robert Hand, Executive Director of Resources for Independence Central Valley in Fresno, California, will share his experiences with designing, funding, and delivering several different types of services.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe a promising practice for designing and implementing a program to teach work readiness skills to transition age youth with developmental disabilities.

  • Identify potential new funding sources for services for the population.

  • Describe a promising practice for working with Workforce Investment Boards as a new funding source.

  • Identify an approach for developing services and funding collaborations with Parent Training and Information organizations.




Robert Hand

He has been the Executive Director of Resources for Independence Central Valley in Fresno, CA for over ten years. He is the former Chair of the California Foundation for Independent Living, the CA State Rehabilitation Council and the City of Fresno Disability Advisory Commission. Bob has over forty years in the disability field, over thirty-five as an executive director. He has a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from CSU Fresno. He has acted as a consultant for numerous independent living centers and other disability organizations in management, independent living, leadership, job placement, and other disability related issues. Bob is a co-author and facilitator of "Leaders without Limits", and author of the board guide "Leading Community Benefit Corporations". He has made "Leaders without Limits" presentations across California, in Kansas, South Carolina, South Korea, and at national conferences. He has taught leadership development for people with disabilities at Fresno State University, in nonprofits and conferences across the U.S., and in South Korea.
