Get Moving! The Importance of Physical Activity
July 7 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion of Individuals with Psychiatric Disabilities invites to you participate in a one-hour webinar on promoting physical activity for consumers. Individuals with mental health conditions often lead a predominantly sedentary lifestyle, which contributes to poor physical and mental health. This informational webinar will cover the health impacts of sedentary behavior, the benefits of physical activity, and strategies to support consumers to increase independent participation in physical activity. With the recent push for community mental health centers to support the physical and mental health of consumers, this webinar will provide useful information for developing strategies to promote physical activity. Agency directors, case managers, peer support specialists, consumers, and students could all benefit from participating in this webinar.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
•Define the levels of physical activity (i.e., sedentary, light, moderate, and vigorous) and identify examples of each.
•Describe the physical and mental health benefits of physical activity.
•Identify strategies to assess physical activity levels and one’s motivation to participate in physical activity.
•Identify strategies for setting and supporting physical activity goals.
