Description:  PDF files are not going away anytime soon so it is important to make sure that all individuals, including those with disabilities can retrieve the information contained in them. This session will give a definition of what an accessible PDF should include as well as show how to test a PDF for accessibility. The session will also look at forms and tables. Participants should have a basic understanding of accessible PDF principles such as tagging and navigational structure.

The webinar is free, but advance registration is required. A certificate of attendance is available upon request once actual attendance/participation is documented.  All webinar sessions are scheduled from 2:00-3:30 p.m. (90 minute sessions) in the Eastern Time Zone (ET). The program is available in three formats: Teleconference; Streaming Audio via the Blackboard Collaborate webinar platform; Real-time Captioning via the Blackboard Collaborate webinar platform. All sessions will have a written transcript as well as a digital recording of the session archived after the event.  This session will be closed captioned via the webinar platform

Christy Blew

Christy Blew is an IT Accessibility Specialist in the Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has over 15 years of experience in developing and using internet technologies to deliver information to people and has been working with IT accessibility education for over 10 years. Christy is part of the ITaccess initiative at the University of Illinois that focuses on the awareness, evaluation, and education of accessibility of electronic information. Her online and classroom training sessions include accessibility issues with Word, PowerPoint, and PDF. Christy currently holds a Masters in Technology and a Certification in Computer Science from Eastern Illinois University and a certificate in Audio Description through Audio Description Associates, LLC..
