Insights on Traveling with a Mobility Disability

Description

Traveling by planes and trains and accessing places of lodging and tourist sites can present obstacles for persons that use mobility devices. Join us for this session as our speaker talks about her travel as a wheelchair user and the tips and tricks she has developed in her 20 plus years of travel. The speaker will talk about the Air Carriers Access Act (ACAA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it applies to her travel. There will be time for participants to ask questions following the speaker’s presentation.

Kelly Narowski

Kelly Narowski has vast experience as a disability rights advocate in both the military and civilian worlds. She has worked as a government contractor, having delivered hundreds of presentations for the Department of Defense. Ms. Narowski also has 9 years previous experience in the corporate travel industry and is knowledgeable in both domestic and international accessible travel. Further, as a wheelchair user, she has visited 46 countries on 5 continents. Her former positions include: Liaison for the 82nd Airborne Division’s Wounded Warriors Committee, Army Family Readiness Group Advisor, Board member for the Whole Person Center for Independent Living, VIP Speaker for the Think First Foundation, Advocate for the Fayetteville Council for Persons with Disabilities, and various other memberships in organizations that advocate to improve the lives of persons with disabilities. Ms. Narowski is certified as an Army Master Resilience Trainer and has completed the ADA Coordinator Certification program. She holds a BS from Missouri Western State University and a Master’s in Disability Studies from CUNY’s School of Professional Studies. Ms. Narowski currently lives at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where her husband is assigned by the U.S. Army.
