Description: Whether you’re trying to accommodate patient lifting in a hospital, moving bulky pallets in a warehouse, or simply trying to transfer file boxes in a small office, reasonable accommodations can vary and be challenging depending on the work environment. Come learn about the various assistive technology and other types of reasonable accommodations employers can provide to employees with motor impairments which enable employees to overcome workplace barriers.

Registration

The JAN Webcasts are currently free for one login. Registrations are for a single computer, not a person. Any number of people may participate at that computer through the single Web link provided by the registration. The login URL will be emailed to the address with which you registered the day before the training event. However, one registration fee allows you one login, which includes the e-mail with which you register and a password given three to five business days prior to the scheduled event.

Lisa Mathess, M.A., SHRM-CP

Lead Consultant, Motor Team

Lisa joined the motor team as a consultant February 2011. Lisa provides one-on-one guidance on workplace accommodations and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). She assists employees and employers with understanding their rights and responsibilities under the ADA and in identifying accommodation solutions for employees with motor impairments. Lisa also presents on the ADA and accommodation issues at various national conferences and provides specialized trainings to JAN audiences and advocacy groups.

Lisa graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in Business and a Master’s of Arts in Communication Studies.

In 2014 she completed the Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program (ATACP). Most recently in 2015, Lisa became a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).

Matthew McCord, M.S., CRC

Consultant – Mobility Team

Matthew joined the JAN staff as a consultant on the Motor team in April 2015, where he fields questions from employees and employers regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and assists in identifying accommodation solutions for employees with mobility impairments.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Fairmont State University, a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from West Virginia University, and he is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).

Matthew has a background in providing classroom accommodations to college students with disabilities. He also has a background in providing mental health therapy services to college students regardless of disabilities status.
