Webinar: Private Transportation and the ADA
August 10, 2016 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Presented by Easter Seals Project Action Consulting
Private transportation options such as motor coaches, taxicabs, shuttles, car service, and transportation network companies (e.g., Uber and Lyft) have obligations under the ADA to provide accessible, nondiscriminatory transportation. This session will cover requirements specific to private transportation as well as explore the future application of the ADA to newer alternatives such as TNC’s, bikesharing and carsharing services. The key to increasing transportation options for needed trips such as for employment, child care, education, health care, tourism, and recreation, is to be aware of all transportation options, understand how the ADA applies, and what it takes to make more options accessible to people with disabilities and older adults. Trainers will share knowledge gathered through extensive technical assistance to businesses and agencies providing transportation and present innovative practices that sometimes go beyond the minimum requirements of the ADA to meet the transportation needs of the community.
