A blind person using a cane to detect hazards approaches the underside of the stair. An area under the ceiling and stair with a height of at least 80 inches is hatched to indicate no protruding object hazard. A planter is located where the height is less than 80 inches to alert the blind person to the protruding object hazard. Notes: accessible route or circulation space (indicating space where people walk) person using long cane detects warning barrier and avoids head injury (pointing to area where the planter is located - with a height of less than 80 inches) - 80" min. (referring to the minimum height of circulation space).
