* An Overview of Indiana’s Aged & Disabled HCBS Waivers
As with most states, the State of Indiana has it’s own definition of what ‘assisted living’ is, who is eligible, and what services are to be provided. The State of Indiana requires an assisted living community to register as a Housing with Services Establishment (HSE) which requires disclosure of the kinds of services available and / or provided to the residents.
We were able to find a good description of assisted living on The Indiana Elder Affairs Network “Options” site. “Options” was created through Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) division of aging to “promote and support a broad range of long-term care community options for older Hoosiers”, which includes Assisted Living.
To see their definition of Assisted Living, please view their “Options” (.pdf) here. Intro by D. Besnette.
