One of the challenges facing Wyoming seniors is providing quality senior care that is accessible to those residents who live in the many rural areas of Wyoming – that are not near any major cities.
To find services for caregivers, seniors, or families in Wyoming, it may be helpful to contact your local Area Agency on Aging (Area Agencies on Aging were “established under the Older Americans Act (OAA) in 1973 to respond to the needs of Americans 60 and over in every local community.”).
Some of the things that an Agency on Aging may assist seniors and families with are: home delivered meals; in-home care; transportation; Adult Day Care/Respite Care services; referrals and information; Personal visits to assess health and well-being – and much more.
Another place to find help or information if you are a senior or caregiver in Wyoming is the The Wyoming Department of Health’s Aging Division This department exists to ensure that Wyoming’s older adults are safe, cared for, and supported through numerous services and programs. The Aging Division can also inform you as to who your local Ombudsman representative is. The Aging Division covers every area of the state – both city and rural. Intro by D. Besnette.
