Heartland Independent Living Center strives to create "Accessibility for All." We seek to empower people with disabilities by helping them to live independently with dignity and security. Heartland is a non-profit, non-residential, community based 501(c)(3) organization.
Originally opened in 2002 as a branch of the Disabled Citizens Alliance for Independence, HeartlandIndependent Living Center was established as an independent center in 2006. Consumers of Independent Living receive many supports free of charge.
In 2011, Heartland celebrated the inclusion of the In-Home Care program to its services, providing daily living assistance to consumers with a variety of funding options. Growth continued in early 2012 with the addition of Nursing Home Transition. Heartland persists in finding new avenues to serve both its consumers and surrounding communities, including providing Guardian Alert 911 devices to qualifying individuals and Disability Awareness Education to area youth. Currently, Heartland is in early implementation stages of a disaster preparedness and response program.
Programs and services are offered to residents in 12 counties of central and eastern Missouri.
Heartland meets all 20 Better Business Bureau standards for charity accountability and holds their Charity Seal.
