Goals and Objectives
Living Independence for Everyone (LIFE), Inc. is a Center for Independent Living (CIL) that serves the following counties in Southeast Georgia: Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Liberty, McIntosh, Tattnall and Toombs. CILs are service and advocacy organizations run by and for people with disabilities. We focus on civil rights, the independent living philosophy, and inclusion. All Centers provide individual and systems advocacy, information and referral, peer support, independent living skills training, and transition services.
The primary goal of LIFE is to give the right tools to individuals with disabilities so they can become as independent and as fully involved in their community as they want to be. LIFE’s fundamental approach to assisting people with disabilities to achieve independence is based upon these four key objectives:
-
Consumer Control: Directed by persons with significant disabilities through consumer, board and staff participation.
-
Cross Disability Orientation: Reaches as many disability groups as possible.
-
Community Focus: Provide services in our local communities.
-
Non Residential Focus: Focuses on non-institutional settings for individuals.
