Who We Are
Rebuilding Together Saratoga County was founded in 2003 by Michelle and Dan Larkin with the support of the National Rebuilding Together organization and the Saratoga County community.
The Larkin family had traveled to other cities with their church youth group to work on the homes of people in need, and they kept asking themselves if there was a need for this type of service in Saratoga County. After determining there was a large need for home repair services for low-income homeowners in their own community, Michelle Larkin invited friends and relatives to an informational meeting at the New England-Presbyterian Church in Saratoga Springs. 35 people joined Michelle that night; all 35 committed to the mission of working with homeowners in need in Saratoga County by way of agreeing to serve on the Board of Directors or on a committee; and Rebuilding Together Saratoga County was born.
We are Neighbors Helping Neighbors, committed to ensuring that our neighbors in need can live independently in safe, healthy, warm and dry homes.
Rebuilding Together Saratoga County is an affiliate of the national Rebuilding Together organization, which was founded in 1988, and now consists of 166 affiliates helping homeowners in need in communities across the country.
In the 10 years since our founding, Rebuilding Together Saratoga County has renovated and revitalized 559 homes and 57 nonprofit centers with the help of more than 5,500 volunteers who have dedicated more than 36,000 hours of their time, bringing hope and renewed pride to homeowners in need throughout Saratoga County.
What We Do
We partner with volunteers year round to ensure that homeowners in need can live independently in safe and healthy homes and build healthy neighborhoods through our programs:
-
Home Repair provides critical repairs for low-income homeowners, including weatherizing, making plumbing and electrical repairs, patching and painting, cleaning, re-carpeting, siding, and landscaping.
-
Safe at Home provides home safety assessments and safety and accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners who are older adults or are living with a disability.
-
Nonprofit Facility/Community Beautification provides safe and welcoming spaces for communities to gather through renovation and beautification work for community centers, supportive housing facilities and outdoor community spaces.
