In 1973, a small group of neighbors and friends picked up hammers and paint brushes in Midland, Texas. They had seen houses in their community fall into disrepair and chose to dedicate one day to the elderly, disabled and low-income homeowners who needed a hand. Their compassion inspired others, and the movement grew.
Today, Rebuilding Together is a national organization committed to year-round aid. With over 200,000 volunteers annually, we're able to revitalize over 10,000 houses and public spaces to impact nearly 850,000 individuals. Since our founding in 1988, we've added $1.3 billion of market value back into the communities we serve and, more importantly, priceless value to the homeowners' lives we change.
Seeing a need in our region, Rebuilding Together — St. Louis joined the effort in March of 1992. Our first Rebuilding Day renovated five houses with the help of 105 volunteers. Since then, we've assisted 2,800 homeowners, completed 52 community projects and 489 Rebuilding Together Express restorations in over 50 neighborhoods across the St. Louis region.
Our Vision
