Research and Training Center on Independent Living (RTCIL): Emergency Preparedness Trainings and Resources for People with Disabilities
Disasters disproportionately affect people who are unable to physically escape them. Census figures suggest that at least one in six Americans is at increased risk of injury or death in emergency situations by virtue of his or her disability.
The RTC/IL produces a variety of educational materials to help people prepare for all hazards, and has investigated the results of disasters to lay a groundwork for more effective responses to new crises.
