Our History
Resources for Independent Living, Inc.(RIL) began operation in 1988 and was founded as a non–profit organization in 1990 with a staff of 5 and a consumer based philosophy to provide services to person with disabilities to enable them to live independently in the community. By 1995, RIL grew to include a staff of 30 opened an office in Baton Rouge along with at least an 8 member Board of Directors. RIL has maintained a majority of persons with disabilities on staff and Board since its inception.RIL is committed to advocating services with increased self determination and independence through various programs. These programs are developed, directed and delivered by person with disabilities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to advocate for a fully accessible and integrated community and provide services for individuals with disabilities.We look to enhance personal choice while promoting social, vocational, and economic opportunities.
