Welcome to WheelchairJimmy.com where we intend to make travel more accessible, convenient and comforting for persons with disabilities and their families, especially those confined to wheelchairs. We intend to provide everything for today's travel including travel news, trends and travel tips and an extensive database on accessible hotels, restaurants, city attractions and local transportation.
We Enjoy Travel
As a paraplegic for the past 48 years (since age 20) our founder Jim has traveled the globe in a wheelchair in his business career and personally with his wife. These travels have taken him to 5 continents and almost 40 countries throughout Europe and Asia as well as North and South America. He has traveled down the Pearl River in China (on a barge), been to Moscow, Tokyo and Hong Kong, driven throughout England, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Wales and New Zealand and cruised throughout the Mediterranean, the Baltic, British Isles, New Zealand and South America. He has additionally traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada in all modes of transportation.
Over the years Jim has encountered about every accessibility issue imaginable, but he also found people around the world are incredibly helpful and willing to accommodate. Traveling in a wheelchair requires good advance planning, and our mission is to help that planning process, and permit disabled travelers and their families to get out and see our beautiful world in a fun, comfortable, knowledgeable manner.
We Will Be Everywhere
Our goal is to use Jim's in depth travel experience to help every disabled person together with their family members, everywhere, and know all aspects of disability and accessible travel. Our site will initially cover North America and provide travelers "accessibility ratings for hundreds of hotels, restaurants, cruises, city attractions and local transportation. We expect to constantly source new locations in the U.S. and ultimately abroad. We do all the heavy lifting to make your trip planning easier."
