U.S. Attorney's Office Surveying Restaurants for ADA Compliance

According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, the U.S. Attorney's office in Chicago has plans to begin surveying local restaurants for compliance with the ADA. In the report, U.S. Attorney Zach Fardon stated: "The Americans with Disabilities Act is an important civil rights law... Restaurant owners must conform to its accessibility provisions, and we will pursue all reasonable measures to ensure compliance." Restaurants found with noncompliant conditions must make efforts to remove barriers or face a civil lawsuit and potential fines.
