At age 3, Penelope Lassman was placed in a segregated school in Evanston, Illinois. There was great fear about her going to a mainstream school because there were questions about whether or not the neighborhood school was prepared and willing to educate Penelope with her other peers... Matt and Megan, Penelope's parents wanted more for Penelope and pushed for her to be in their neighborhood school.
This video is a story about a neighborhood school saying YES to a family and the 4 year impact Penelope had on them as individuals, the school and the entire community.
