I operate a nationwide ADA consulting service, ADA Expertise Consulting, LLC. I formerly served as a Senior Trial Attorney at the Justice Department, in the Disability Rights Section of the Civil Rights Division in Washington DC. In that capacity, I was responsible for nationwide enforcement of the ADA and Section 504 on behalf of the United States. I was one of the first 10 attorneys hired by the Disability Rights Section.

Many of the matters I handled were matters of first impression, including investigations of restaurants, stadiums, zoos, hotels, movie theaters, emergency shelters, health care providers, law firms, and others. Matters included architectural obligations, effective communication obligations, and policy modification obligations under title III of the ADA, as well as program access obligations of state and local governments under title II.

I also provided training nationwide on behalf of the United States concerning the ADA and Section 504, assisted with the development of technical assistance, and investigated employment discrimination allegations involving state and local governments, referred by the EEOC.

ADA Expertise Consulting, LLC, in collaboration with affiliated architects, web accessibility experts, recreational access experts, and others across the country, provides expert guidance and technical assistance concerning the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Fair Housing Act. We provide trainings, litigation assistance and support (both plaintiff and defendant), assistance to state and local governments in updating their self-evaluation and transition plans, and assistance to businesses in understanding their obligations under the ADA and in enhancing their voluntary compliance and avoidance of ADA litigation and federal investigations. I served as a prosecutor in New York and Florida for over a decade, and served as Special Counsel to the Office on Violence Against Women at the Justice Department, where I was responsible for education about and implementation of the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). For over a decade, on behalf of the Justice Department, I also provided trainings nationwide to police departments, domestic violence shelters, rape treatment centers, and prosecutors about the application of the ADA and Section 504.
